In an emergency situation it is vital that all of your exits from your premises are clear from obstructions and operate as intended. The Building Code of Australia (BCA) includes a requirement that paths of travel, or means of egress, must be of nominated size, have sufficient clearance, be unobstructed and be free of hazards.

All exit doors within the path of travel must be maintained in accordance with the BCA and Australian standards and be in correct working order. The exit doors must also be of a certain design, including having a single means of operation via a downward movement of the hand without use of a key.

Our paths of travel assessment / inspection covers the following areas:-

  • To clarify the paths of travel to exit points.
  • to ensure that all doors within the paths of travel operate correctly.
  • To check that the doors are appropriate and rated correctly.
  • To check that the routes are clear inside of the building.
  • To check that the routes are clear outside of the building.
  • To check that the routes have the correct signage.

We will supply you with a report containing the following:-

  • Identify any paths of travel that have issues.
  • Identify any exit points that have issues.
  • Identify any malfunctioning or faulty doors.
  • Identify any doors insufficiently rated.
  • Identify areas with insufficient signage.
  • Recommendations for actions to rectify all issues.

The above services are charged at a rate of

$100+gst per building on the site.
